Screenings and Assessments

As parents we often feel like we don’t know what to do when our child is struggling in school. We often do not know what the first step should be or what turns to take along the path. What is the destination? Is it remediation? Is there such a thing? What can their school do? What are they willing and equipped to do? Will they be able to honestly communicate how much of my child’s needs can and will be met within school? 

My goal with Wild Fig Reading Studio is not only to guide you in finding a compassionate path forward for your child, but to empower you with all of the information you need to confidently make decisions at every turn, intentionally address their needs, and change the trajectory of their future. Because yes, remediation (with appropriate intervention) is possible and thriving is the right of every child.

Our Diagnostic Evaluation Process: What to Expect 

Step 1: The Initial Intake Screening & Instructional Map

Every family begins here. You can book this 60-minute session directly online. Before jumping into deep diagnostic testing, we conduct a rapid, high-yield baseline screening using standard, transferable tools and rapid word efficiency measures to identify immediate dyslexia risk.

    • What you get: A 1-page WFRS Instructional Map containing a standardized Dyslexia Risk Index and a complete breakdown of literacy skills.
    • The Next Step: A thorough review of the findings (via Zoom) to set you up as your child’s educational leader. The intake will give us a global look at your child’s skill strengths, weaknesses and reading profile.  We will  analyze areas of concern and discuss the role your child’s school can play. You leave the assessment hour with an exact placement map ready for instructors to hit the ground running. If your child shows high risk and you need a formal diagnosis for school accommodation loops, you can seamlessly upgrade this screening and begin that process  here with Path B.  
  • The Fee: $250 includes: assessment, analysis, evaluation and consultation. (this fee is fully transferable toward the  Diagnostic Evaluation Path at Wild Fig Reading Studio). An additional $125 for a formally written Literacy Profile Report for school.

Path A:

Begin the Intervention Process, Skill Work or Enrichment:  at school, at Wild Fig Reading Studio, a combination of the two, or elsewhere.
